I think you might be able to do it because you can bear the pain. But you shouldn't do it because the general anesthesia that you will receive will not be fully out of your system and your brain will be "fuzzy" for a while. Not a good thing to do for her first schooling show of the season. If she were to spook and your reaction is slow, both of you could get hurt. And you never know for sure what a horse might react to. Very difficult initially to get a saddle to fit, so I had one custom made and it has been reflocked about 2 to 3 times. The point of the story is, until she developed good muscle on both sides of her body - the saddle was a problem. For the last 6 months it has been good - but it took about 1.5 years. Per the guy that made the saddle, we used a washrag folded in half under one side, at the shoulder (running lenghth wise). And it put it under the opposite direction it was sliding. So, I would try that method to see if it helps. If it doesn't help under one side try the other. Maybe this is all a development issue.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-728531703137891855.post-37132823011850726572014-06-30T12:14:45.727-07:002014-06-30T12:14:45.727-07:00I'm just a trail rider, and I haven't had ...I'm just a trail rider, and I haven't had any experience with dressage saddles, but I have been wondering about saddle fit for the last few years. Yes, I remember when an average saddle would fit an average horse. In fact, my saddles are old enough that they fall in that category. We put on many hours and miles, so saddle fit is just important to us as any performance rider. So, this has puzzled me.

Is it the marketing that makes people feel they need new saddles for each horse? Is it the popularity of warmbloods--are they built different? Is it people looking for a quick fix to their own bad riding? Is it just fashion--which brings us back to marketing?

I'm glad I'm not the only one questioning it!Judihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01696430372464786833noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-728531703137891855.post-31309683910380229342014-06-14T16:07:02.902-07:002014-06-14T16:07:02.902-07:00I like to think of decontraction in tennis terms. ...I like to think of decontraction in tennis terms. When one player serves, the opposite player usually dances from foot to foot in a relaxed but active manner, and then when the server actually strikes the ball, the opposing player jumps and lands on split legs, ready to go in any direction. It's not a perfect analogy, but for me it's the same sort of relaxed readiness.halfpassgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12996626217001261168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-728531703137891855.post-67564524618663017132014-06-13T13:14:08.438-07:002014-06-13T13:14:08.438-07:00Good luck finding your next bassador! I usually twist them and run one through the throatlatch, but the throatlatch on the headstall was too tight so I cut it off (going to jerry-rig a longer one). I think it's fine to tuck behind stirrups as long as the reins are long enough not to interfere with the side reins.halfpassgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12996626217001261168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-728531703137891855.post-38857387525699127952013-12-03T17:49:06.812-08:002013-12-03T17:49:06.812-08:00Fred is so adorable! May I ask - are his reins run under your stirrups, is that how they're staying up there? When I lunge I always do the twisty around neck method if I have a bridle, is there a reason you put yours that way? (just curious, I like to learn!
